Accessibility Statement

The Zivver Platform

Last updated: 06-08-2025

Introduction

At Zivver, we are committed to making our services digitally accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.

What is digital accessibility?

Digital accessibility means that websites, mobile apps, and other digital tools are designed and developed so that everyone can use them effectively. This includes features such as:

  • Compatibility with screen readers
  • Keyboard navigation
  • Sufficient color contrast
  • Clear and understandable content

Our ambition

We continuously work to improve the user experience of our digital services by applying recognized accessibility standards. Our ambition is to meet the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and the WCAG 2.1 level A and AA standards. Furthermore, we strive to regularly have the accessibility of our product reviewed in order to discover and implement improvements on a continuous basis.

About the European Accessibility Act

The EAA is a European law aimed at improving the accessibility of products and services across the European Union. It sets accessibility requirements for key areas such as websites, mobile applications, and digital communication tools. The EAA ensures that people with disabilities can participate fully in the digital economy and society.

From 28 June 2025, organizations that fall under the scope of the EAA are legally required to ensure digital services offered to consumers are accessible. This includes meeting technical standards such as WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

Purpose of this Accessibility Statement

This Accessibility Statement explains how we are working to meet the requirements of the EAA. It outlines our current level of compliance, ongoing efforts, and future goals regarding digital accessibility.

Control and assurance

To verify that we are sufficiently accessible to our users, accessibility guidelines have been established: the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). There are different versions, but the EAA refers to WCAG 2.1 at level A and AA. We have therefore used these versions as a benchmark for accessibility. The WCAG consists of four main principles that a service provided to consumers must meet:

  • Perceivable: the relevant parts must be findable and readable for everyone.
  • Operable: everyone must be able to operate and navigate the service, regardless of technological or personal limitations.
  • Understandable: all information and interactions must be understandable.
  • Robust: all information must be reliably accessible via different browsers or assistive technologies (such as screen readers).

Accessibility of the Zivver platform

Product description

Zivver allows users to easily send and receive sensitive information via email in a secure way.

Accessibility status

The section below describes the accessibility status of the consumer-facing product areas of the Zivver Platform. Zivver tested the accessibility of each product area either through an audit by an independent, external party or through a self-assessment.

Zivver Guest Flow

The Guest Flow is how recipients of secure emails that do not have a Zivver account themselves receive, open, read and reply to these secure messages.

Accessibility status: Partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA

Zivver WebApp

The WebApp allows users with a (free) Zivver account to send, receive and organize all their secure emails in one place. Use of the WebApp is completely optional for consumers; they are not required to create an account in order to receive and reply to secure emails (see Zivver Guest Flow).

Accessibility status: Partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA

Zivver Mobile App

The Mobile App allows users with a (free) Zivver account to send, receive and organize all their secure emails in one place and do so directly from their mobile phone. Use of the Mobile App is completely optional for consumers; they are not required to create an account in order to receive and reply to secure emails (see Zivver Guest Flow).

Accessibility status: Partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA

Planned improvements

We are actively working to address the results of our assessment. For each unmet requirement, the cause is known. We are also reviewing how we can extend accessibility improvements across other relevant areas of our platform. Should any additional issues arise as a result of internal or external testing, these will be prioritized and planned accordingly.

Measures to ensure accessibility

What are we doing to keep our services accessible? We take the following measures to ensure accessibility of Zivver:

  • Integrate accessibility into our design and development processes.
  • Conduct regular accessibility audits and evaluations.
  • Provide documentation for staff on accessibility best practices.
  • Review content internally before publication to ensure it meets accessibility standards.
  • Carry out checks to ensure compliance with accessibility regulations.
